Hal Holbrook: Mark Twain Tonight! (1967) - Part 1

Hal Holbrook: Mark Twain Tonight! (1967) - Part 1

Recreating the one-man show he starred in on Broadway, 'Hal Holbrook' portrays Mark Twain as a 70-year old humorist who skewers politicians, newspapermen and so-called patriots in this 90 minute monologue. Holbrook adapted Twain's own words for a commentary on slavery, religion and politics, mixing the satire with comic yarns about life on the Mississippi and a very effective ghost story. The show's highlight are the lengthy passages from "Huckleberry Finn"

Mark Twain-Hal Holbrook's Brilliant Stage Show
stevengilmore-3877528 March 2015
I've been a fan of Hal Holbrook probably since I was growing up in the 1970's and saw him as the lead bad guy in 'Magnum Force' opposite Clint Eastwood. He is just a great, great actor and still going strong at 90 years old. Just saw 'Mark Twain Tonight!' again last night at the University of New Mexico for the 2nd time in the last few years. This one man stage show is older than I am by a few years and just wonderful. The live show is always changing due to the many writings and commentaries of real life philosophical humorist Samuel Clemens as the author Mark Twain. The show last night was brilliant and I'm ready to see it again. If you're a fan of social commentary by real thinking men such as Mark Twain and Will Rogers, then this show is for you. Sometimes side splitting funny and sometimes it will bring a tear to your eyes with its poignancy. Mark Twain's musings and social commentary were written over a hundred years ago and are as relevant today as when they they were first penned and or spoken. In every sense of the words Mr Holbrook does honor & justice to the works of the great writer American Mark Twain. Hal Holbrook has Tony and Emmy awards to his name along with an Academy Award nomination. Hopefully in the not too distant future he will receive a Lifetime Achievement Academy Award. He is 90 this year so the A.M.P.A.S. Oscar folks better hurry up. Hal Holbrook is that good.

Can't re-watch it again

I was 13-14 when I watched this movie. It's a long movie if I recall it correctly. I was so moved by it's theme, so I watched it all. I had strong feelings of sadness and sympathy towards little robot David that wanted to be a real child and to have a mom to love him. And that little bear ... I cried during some scenes. I don't ...

This Is Why U.S. & Israeli Air Forces Are the Deadliest Team in the Sky

This Is Why U.S. & Israeli Air Forces Are the Deadliest Team in the Sky

When U.S. and Israeli pilots train together, it’s not just another military exercise — it’s preparation for wars that could reshape the Middle East. From Israeli F-35 Adir stealth fighters to American B-52 strategic bombers, this partnership represents one of the most lethal combinations in modern air warfare.

In this video, we break down why US Israeli joint air force training goes far beyond diplomacy. You’ll learn how Israeli F-35 combat experience — earned in real hostile airspace — feeds directly into American tactics during elite exercises like Red Flag, Blue Flag, and Juniper Oak. These drills simulate the exact threats both nations may face, including advanced air defenses, underground bunkers, and long-range strike missions tied to Iran deterrence.

We explore how B-52 Israeli air force exercises signal ...
